The Light of Vézelay

images/stories/veze440.jpgTradition has it that shortly before the beginning of the second millennium, the bones of Mary Magdalene were brought to Vézelay, and some half century later, these remains were authenticated by the Pope. Thus started the illustrious career of Vézelay Abbey as the final resting place of the Magdalen. But there is more.

Thousands of visitors to this ancient and then rebuilt abbey in central France attest to the luminous, peace-inducing atmosphere inside the church. Wikipedia mentions "the light of Vézelay." It is a harmonious and bright energy that fills the cathedral.

Here is what Wikipedia has to say:

"... not only the orientation axis of La Madeleine, but also its internal structure, have been determined taking into account the position of the earth relatively to the sun. Every year, the John the Baptist's feast day reveals the cosmic dimensions of this church: at the full midday of the summer solstice, when the sun is at its upper culmination over the earth, the light coming through the southern clerestorey windows create luminous spots that exactly locate in the full midst of the nave with a rigorous precision."

Correct. But there is much more than that. What is less often talked about, but now emerging into human consciousness, is the relationship between vortex- and goddess energy -- by the latter, we mean the energy of the divine feminine, which is a root cause of manifestation in the universe. The answer to the most basic of all philosophical questions, "Why is there something instead of nothing?" is: goddess energy. That power which manifests perceived reality, which imprints the external universe based on an internal blueprint, is also what is called "goddess energy." It is the feminine which builds manifestation out of the nothingness of cosmic beginnings.

The remarkable light of Vézelay is delicate, luminous and creative. It is goddess energy -- like all vortexes are, regardless of the ultimate exterior personality of the vortex - masculine or feminine.
