Aside from our cat Tom, who is the Basye Cat hors de classe, and who now meows with a bit of a Texas accent, there are many wonderful feline creatures in Basye. Why not? cats gravitate to energy. [Above: helping out with online shopping, this is Chloe, daughter of the late Dingo.] Well that is what she looked like in about 2002. Though it may not be legible, Chloe (who is obviously disposed toward the literary pursuits in life) is perched over a slip of paper quoting the unforgettable Henry Miller: "Don't look for miracles. You are the miracle." The quote comes from the witty and soul-baring essay called "Memory and Forgettery." Click here to read the whole essay [link broken, will fix]. But if you're in too much of a hurry for wisdom, here is the essence of what Miller said about forgetting and remembering: "One should not forget the man who renders you a wonderful service. You can forget Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, but not the guy who got you out of a scrape or saved your life with a little chicken feed." Just so! - we remember a guy who showed up on a snowy evening in Basye, with an aging Blazer or whatever the heck it was, to pull our car out of a snowy ditch. Period.
Oh, Chloe resides with good friends in Basye, VA.
